Meal Breaks and Rest
Periods: |
|
|
Meal (Lunch) Breaks |
|
|
Supervisors determine the
scheduling and length of meal (lunch) breaks to meet operational needs
in a fair and reasonable manner. If an employee wishes, each workday of eight
(8) or more hours should include a one half
(1/2) hour unpaid meal break. Employees should clock out if they leave
their computers for more than five (5) minutes to pickup a lunch.
Meal breaks may not be scheduled at the beginning or end of the work
period or appended to a rest period. Under specific situations meal
breaks may be paid if employees do not leave the building and continue
to work at their computers during their meal and are not gone more than
five (5) minutes to pickup a lunch. |

Rest Periods |
|
xx |
Each workday should include
one (5) minute paid rest period for each 2-hour period worked in a
workday. Such rest periods should be taken approximately in the middle of
each 2-hour period and shall not exceed five (5) minutes whether or not
the employee chooses to leave the work area. Rest periods may not be
scheduled at the beginning or the end of a work period or appended to a
meal (lunch) break or another rest period. No smoking anywhere in the
front or sides of the building. The smoking area is in the rear of the
building.
Please exit
and return only from the front of the building.
Not more than one employee can take a rest period at any one
time. |

|
|
|
Rest periods are considered as
time worked and are provided by Catamaran Media to the employee. As time
worked, employees may not use rest periods for the purpose of making up
absences or late arrival. Catamaran Media provides rest periods to
allow employees to refresh themselves, and to conduct limited personal
business, such as making personal telephone calls. The employee's
immediate supervisor may schedule rest periods according to operational
needs. Supervisors should do this in a fair and reasonable manner. |
