Windows Live Messenger: Rules & Guidelines for Employees
 

• All Catamaran Media Employees will be given an IM account & passwords from IT.
• This IM account is to only be used for Newspaper Employee Communications.
• No Personal Accounts will be alllowed in your Contact List (Family, Friends, etc...).
• IT will setup & maintain your IM account, any questions or problems contact Caci or Paul. (e-mail or IM).
• You can add or change your picture to your account.
• No one is to mark themselves as anything but "Online" or "Sign out" (No "Busy", "Out to Lunch" etc...)
• Do not edit your options.
• Do not change your password.
• Do not enter anything into "<Enter a personal message>". (Except for Managers)
• At the end of your work day sign out of IM and restart your computer.
• Working from home is OK (See Download below).
• When working from home you will see & use the same IM account as on your office computer.
• If you are working from home sign out when done, so you can sign in at the office.
• Do not use Sharing folders---yet.
• Do not use video---yet.
• Be careful sending messages to mobile devices, this could cost money on your plan.
• If you already have a personal IM or AOL account, do not log into it from your office computer.
• Your IM account is only be used for Newspaper Employee Communications.

You can download "Windows Live Messenger" from the MSN website and install it on your home computer. Click Here or go to the MSN Download Site at: http://get.live.com/mail/options
You will need to know your password & e-mail address IT assigned to your account. Contact Caci or Paul by IM for this information. If you already have a Windows Live IM Messenger Account on a different e-mail address (Example "hotmail") do not inter mix them. (Keep personal personal & office office).
